About Us
What We Do?
We are a social prescribing project set up in 2018 with the support of our local GP surgery and now run independently by local volunteers. We aim to create supportive networks for anyone living in Stockport, particularly around the Bracondale GP Practice in Davenport. Activities are open to all and free of charge. New members are welcome at our weekly drama and walking groups. Through providing connections and friendship our project builds community support, leading to less reliance on GP services.

Paul -Treasurer
Retired public transport professional. Main interests walking, travel and trying to play golf.
Vanessa – Secretary
Hi, I’m Vanessa. I’m the Secretary of the groups committee and help out with Group Events.
Fiona – Fundraiser
I’ve lived in Stockport all my life and had a career working in local charities. I enjoy walking, yoga, reading, travel, and spending time with my family. After finishing full time work in 2021 I became a Practice Champion. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the Social Stroll since I joined it in 2019 and using my charity experience to help as a Champion. A highlight of the last year was being successful in securing funding for the Drama Group.
Tess
I’m Tess, I’ve been a Practice Champion since 2017. I’ve enjoyed being part of the team, getting to meet lots of people, planning some of our events, having fun with the people in Drama for Fun and making friends on our weekly Social Stroll. We are a friendly group, we welcome new people to our groups and are very keen to develop new activities.
Graham
I am Graham. I have been involved with Bracondale Practice Health Champions for about four years. I am keen on cycling and available to support anyone wanting to take up or return to cycling by offering advice on riding techniques, maintenance and access to cycling organisations in Stockport. I am also able to accompany individuals wishing to go out on a ride. As well as cycling, I take part in Drama for Fun and the Social Stroll and I am a member of the committee.
